Tight Club Checkin: Catarina Haber

June 28, 2017

Take a peek inside the Tight Club community, each week we’re checking in with one of our crew to learn what they get up to when they’re not slamming balls or crushing burpee challenges. These are the people that motivate you in class when sh!t gets real. From OG’s to newbies, here’s their inside scoop.

Meet Cat.

Marketer, Nature Enthusiest, Dog Mom.

What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

I grew up playing ice hockey – I had olympic dreams for a long time.

Tell me about where you grew up?

I grew up outside of Vancouver, in a suburb called Maple Ridge – it’s a place I have a hard time connecting with, but I did have a very solid and stereotypical childhood which I’m thankful for. Also, not having to pay for parking has become such a novelty when I’m home.

Favourite drunk food?

Pizza, any kind of pizza – the quality is a good sliding scale of the level of drunkness. Pizza Garden – I was probably functioning. Megabite delivery – I should have gone home hours before I did.

What word do you always spell wrong?

immediately

Would you rather…
Take 10 of Michaels Booty Luv classes in a row or do one Tight Bike ride fully nude?

Jesus, 10?! I don’t think I’d make it through the streets on Tight Bike nude, so I’ll attempt 10 Booty Luv’s in a row.

Let’s get weird. If you were a frog, what kind of cake would you make?

Chocolate Fly Cake – Swamp Water Infused Cream Cheese Frosting

Sounds yummy. So, what’s tight in your life?

My life feels SO tight. I’ve really been putting myself first for the first time in my life and it’s been great. I was extremely unbalanced for a long time, so having found that balance between work, play, and the relationships with people in my life is a big accomplishment. I have amazing friends, a loving family, a great job, a cool dog, a beautiful apartment, and health through the roof thanks to Tight Club. I feel very grateful.

What would you tell your 20 year old self?

Relax, slow down, take a deep breathe. Everything will workout the way it’s supposed to. Stay focused on the things that matter and learn to let go of things in your life that don’t have a positive impact anymore. Do you, always.

Hidden gem in your neighbourhood?

Not sure if anything is hidden anymore, house plants are super cheap at Trendy Bucks. I also think a stroll down to Granville Island for dinner ingredients is underratted.

Last show you binge watched?

I’m the best at binge watching. Just crushed 6 seasons (oops) of Shameless on Netflix.

Do you believe in aliens?

There could be up to 170 billion galaxies in the universe – so, absolutely.

Speaking of aliens, what’s your go-to sexy-time track?

“Sexy Thing” by Hot Chocolate – just kidding, but it’ll probably do the trick if your attitude is right. Anything the XX, The Weeknd, etc.

If you could power brunch with one person, who would that be?

Maybe Elon Musk, he is pretty incredible – could pick his brain for a while. I think at the end of the day though, I’d mostly just like to brunch with my parents more. They’re pretty cool.

You’re writing a “how to” on having the most epic Vancouver day, what do you write?

I had a few tourists ask me this recently. It’s going to be a BIG day.

Wake up early, head to Beaucoup Bakery for an almond milk latte and almond croissant.
Head to a local mountain, and hike a peak like Mt.Seymour (You can take in views of the city, the ocean, and the beaches).

Come down, grab a smoothie and some lunch from Glory Juice.
Head home, drop off your car, get on your bathing suit and pack a backpack for the beach.
Hop on your bike and head to Kits Beach Lawn or Third Beach on the seawall to catch some rays in the afternoon.

Brewery Time – Bike over to Main Street and hop around to a few of the breweries over for a few beers with friends. Brassneck Brewing, Main St Brewing, 33 Acres, R&B Brewing, and Faculty Brewing for a few local beers with friends.
Head to the patio at Boxcar or to one of the many incredible parties happening in the summer put on by some incredible people to finish the night.

What does the Tight Life mean to you?

The Tight Life to me means feeling a good sense of balance in life between all that is going on. Feeling strong physically helps me feel strong mentally. My life feels tightest when I’m checking off the to-do list at work, getting in my workouts at TC, eating well, able to work on personal goals, and finishing that all off with a beer with friends.
