Rainy night run motivation that gets you out of the house:

My dogs, they never make excuses.

Song that gets you over that hill:

Mercy by Kanye West

The best part about running with a crew:

The motivation of running as a pack – everyone pushes each other to keep going.

Song that gets you over that hill:

Such Great Heights by The Postal Service and Graceland by Paul Simon

Favourite group run we’ve done so far:

RUN LEADER

The Racer

A girl with a goal, Jessica’s next race is her motivation. She started running with the crew in 2014 and hasn’t looked back. A strong and smiling support to everyone in the group, she’s there to help you hit your goal or just enjoy the run!

Rainy night run motivation that gets you out of the house:

Knowing that once I’m out there’s this huge feeling of freedom I’ll get. Also having a training goal/plan in place.

Song that gets you over that hill:

Changes constantly! Breaking up the hill and making small distance goals also helps.

Favourite group run we’ve done so far:

Love-hate (but actually love) a good track workout, and I love workouts where we combo sprints with strength components.

The Motivator

Incubators is all about nurturing the new talent that wants to run, wants to swim but needs the support of the crew to start… I’ve seen members not being able to run 2K go on to run half marathons and new swimmers who could only swim one length of Kits pool (130m) reach their goal of 10 lengths in only 4 weeks. This is the true inspiration.

Rainy night run motivation that gets you out of the house:

This amazing crew, running is nothing without them.

Song that gets you over that hill:

Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush, obviously… but what gets me through the pain cave? You Got The Love by Candi Staton. Run Crew Leader

Rainy night run motivation that gets you out of the house:

When it’s pissing out I dig deep, find my sunny spot and project that outwards. Nah, I put on some trail running movies, get psyched then get moving.

Song that gets you over that hill:

Never Catch Me by Flying Lotus

Best part about running with the crew:

All the bad-ass runners! Plus grabbing a beer afterward. And the Vings factor, she’s the best one-woman cheer squad.

Favourite group run we’ve done so far:

The ones around the stadium before it want under construction in the fall of 2014. So many stairs and sprints. I love that stuff.

"I hate running and I love beer"

Keighty Gallagher

Tight Club President & Head Coach

How do you get tight (whats your favourite way to sweat):

Anything short, fast, and drill like. My favourite part of track practice was the warm up. We’d spend about an hour before the actual workout doing drills like A’s + B’s, hurdle walkovers and plyometrics.

What gets you from 20 seconds down to 0 without stopping?

(what are your motivational words/phrases you use on yourself when things get real) These days I think about the people I admire most in my life. When I’m taking Michaels spin class or clubbing hard in Nate’s Athlete class, I think about my dad and the hours of labor he put into building out our reception. At 67 years old my dad designed, built and delivered any wood feature you’ll see in the studio. What also keeps me going is finding someone in class who’s a litter faster than me, and I focus on trying to match their movement. Before I know it the set is done.

What should we expect from your class?

As a personal trainer teaching group classes, I make sure proper form comes first. Expect to know the “why” behind the formats and movements in my classes, be challenged from head to toe, and come prepared to interact with the people around you. My whole reason for starting Tight Club was to change the way people feel about fitness, and to learn how to love movement.

Who’s your celebrity best friend?

Pauli Shore. We’d probably make out, though. Does that still count?

What does living that Tight Life mean to you?

If your day consists of activities that get you sweaty, meals that have some green in them, work that leaves you inspired, add in a few high 5’s / a hug or two and I’m pretty sure thats what living the Tight Life is all about.

What’s your training experience / influence:

I have a Bachelors of Science under my belt from Portland State University and my ACE Personal Training Certification, which means that I can explain how plyometrics can change your life. I often find inspiration for my classes from the hours I spent on the track, the interactions I have in coffee shops, and in the classes my teacher lead in The Field House.
