As 2019 comes to a close, we’re looking back at the biggest and boldest parts that made up our year. We saw some major changes and welcomed lots of new folks to our community. Here’s a peek at what we got up to!
Here are our top picks for the songs of 2019 that got your blood pumpin’, booties shakin’, and hearts thumpin’:
The theme we carried through much of our work and learnings was “Big and Bold”. When people are being their biggest and boldest selves, they unapologetically take up space without shame, they leave their inhibitions at the door, and they encourage others to join them in a place of love and trust. What better way to encompass what we aim to do every day at Tight Club? We even got a new wall installation to amplify it! In the below Instagram vid, we worked with creative director Gill Damborg and filmmaker Hayden Rensch to launch this fun project with a juicy video and new studio graphics.
We spent an evening with Jen Oleksiuk and her Biggest Boldest Self Workshop, where we were encouraged us to take up space to move bigger, to let go of the expectations that may be blocking our progress and empower those around us to make fitness more of a human experience.
Hosted by Boys+ Club Fitness, this workshop was taken by each and every one of our amazing staff members so we could learn the tools and work together to make Tight Club the most inclusive space it can be.
In January we kicked off our very FIRST Good Try - an event that’s all about harnessing one's inner-athlete and creating connection through activity - essentially Tight Club in Real Life. We’ve always emphasized the importance of community and what better way to celebrate our diverse and inclusive space than to get together and bring the skills we learn inside the studio - outside, in a fun and approachable way. Here are some highlights of all the fun, new stuff we tried together:
We also said goodbye to some of our tightest and brightest folks.
Our lovely Studio Manager, Jody was with us from day one! We're so proud to have grown the community and space with her and can't be excited enough for her future endeavours. We love you, Jody!
We also said goodbye to a couple of trainers who made Tight Club so special and made an imprint on our community. Alex and Shinead, thank you for all that you brought to the studio!
And in very exciting news, we temporarily said goodbye to Amanda who just entered the exciting new world of motherhood!
The studio got brighter with the addition of these fresh faces that joined the TC community in 2019:
Shawn - Studio Manager and Team Coach
Warren - Team Coach
Johny - Team Coach
Trilby - Team Coach
And we welcomed BACK our girl, Rachelle!
As you may have noticed, we've got a brand spankin' new website! With this site relaunch we laid the foundations for Tight Club 2.0. We've made the digital experience consistent with how Tight Club feels irl.
We worked with Cicely Blaine, anti-racism and inclusivity consultant, to create our very own inclusive policy to better support our team members and clients. As the studio evolves, our mission has always been to make our space as welcoming and safe as possible and taking the necessary steps to ensure we achieve that.
Our classes got a glow up that were heavily inspired by functional training, recreational activity, and longevity. What the heck does that mean? Here's a breakdown:
In 2019 we closed some chapters and embarked on new beginnings. Thank you to everyone who stepped foot through our doors, took part in our community events, and helped make this year another memorable one. Peace out 2019, it's been real. And we can't wait to see what 2020 brings!
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
