Take a peek inside the Tight Club community, each week we’re checking in with one of our crew to learn what they get up to when they’re not slamming balls or crushing burpee challenges. These are the people that motivate you in class when sh!t gets real. From OG’s to newbies, here’s their inside scoop.
What is Tight in your life?
Jenn -The friends and family I get to do life with.
Lindsay - Living in Vancouver is pretty tight. I moved here from Toronto 5 years ago on a whim and i'm still amazed every day that i get to live beside the mountains and ocean. I also have a really tight network of girlfriends, family and buds. I'm pretty lucky to have curated such an awesome group of inspiring and supportive people in my life.
J - Romanian Deadlifts
L - I'm a sucker for a good core move, so i'm really into bosu ball crunches and TRX pikes right now. I also love ball slams when there's a good song on.
Do you work out with each other? How does working out with a friend change the experience?
J - We do! We started riding together this summer with the ladies of Tight Bike, and we always try to make The Club on Fridays after work. I love working out with friends. It’s social, encouraging, and it holds me accountable. If I know that Linds is signed up and expects me to show, I’ll be there.
L - Jenn and I usually workout Friday nights together. it's nice to have someone who can push you, encourage you and make you laugh during class. it's a great sendoff into the weekend.
Something people might not know about Lindsay?
J - She takes serious pride in first impression accuracy, and having a heightened sense of smell.
Something people might not know about Jenn?
L - Jenn has lots of little tricks up her sleeve. she's so sweet and kind, i think some might underestimate her wild side. Most people probably don't know she recently got a tattoo (as a result of us hanging out at the beach)!
What’s your favourite workout song?
J - Always changing. Right now, anything by Jungle.
L - In the Field House i love anything i can catch a beat to - usually it's hip hop- Kendrick Lamar, Drake or Fetty Wap.
What animal is Lindsay most like and why?
J - Some kind of queen jungle cat! She’s independent, logical, a total leader and a bad ass B.
What animal is Jenn most like and why?
L - It might seem like the obvious choice, but i think that Jenn is a lot like a giraffe. She's a tall, striking babe, who eats a lot of veggies! Female giraffes are also known to spend much of their time with a small herd of other females, protecting and caring for one another.
What’s Lindsay’s best quality?
J - Other than being the best work wife, she’s incredibly dependable.
What’s Jenn’s best quality?
L - One of Jenn's best qualities is that she has a way of seeing the best in everyone. She approaches every new interaction positively, appreciating people for their good and celebrating their uniqueness.
Favourite way to procrastinate?
J - The YouTube, or making playlists on Spotify.
L - If i'm procrastinating at home, i usually start cleaning the apartment. When my living space is messy and disorganized, my mind feels the same and it's hard for me to focus.
What was the last thing you read?
J - The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.
L - "All The Light We Cannot See", a really beautifully written novel with an incredible sense of detail.
If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
J - Island hop the Hawaiian Islands.
L - If i could go anywhere, i'd probably go somewhere exotic that i've never been to before like Bora Bora. I've always wanted to stay in one of those huts on turquoise water.
What does the tight life mean to you?
J - Living that tight life means surrounding yourself with positive relationships, a supportive creative community, finding balance, and never taking yourself all that too seriously.
L - To me, the Tight Life is all about living a balanced life and doing everything to the best of your ability. it's about being part of an inspiring and supportive community of people who you want to sweat with AND club with.
What is your fitness goal?
J - After a lousy relationship with my body as a university athlete, what's important to me now is feeling strong, generally healthy, and not injured.
L - My fitness goal is constantly changing, but ultimately i want to be strong, lean and tight.
Do you have any pre or post workout rituals?
J - Post - All the water, sometimes a coffee from Matchstick, and a Juice Truck smoothie on my way to work (I’m hooked on The Green Protein)
L - During the week, Tight Club is my first stop in the morning so not much happens beforehand. post workout is either a smoothie or grabbing a coffee with a few of my Tight buddies from class.
How do you treat yourself?
J - Concert tickets, fresh flowers, fancy beer, aaand poutine, just to name a few.
L - Treating myself usually means a big glass of wine and anything with cheese. i also buy myself flowers a lot.
