Take a peek inside the Tight Club community, each week we’re checking in with one of our crew to learn what they get up to when they’re not slamming balls or crushing burpee challenges. These are the people that motivate you in class when sh!t gets real. From OG’s to newbies, here’s their inside scoop.
What's Tight in your life?
Having everyone in my family be happy and healthy. A few of my close friends have recently lost a parent, while a very good friend of mine has twice had to battle and beat cancer. These events have had a profound impact on me and have really helped to force me to live in the present and to focus on what is really important to me professionally and personally.
I feel so lucky that I have parents that live nearby and with whom I get along. Even when my mother is the most annoying person in the world (often to very often) I have to remind myself that I am really lucky to have her around to push (and bug) me.
I am scared to say it because I fear that in expressing my signature move to be the 180 jumps, that this will cause Keighty to decree that they are to be performed during every class that I attend. That being said I can usually get some sweet air and manage to look somewhat athletic (rare to very rare) while performing them.
Something people might not know about you?
I almost failed elementary school/was held back in grade 6. I just hated school and did everything in my power to avoid doing anything in school aside from PE. I remember the meeting where my dad went and met with the principal; my father then basically laughed because it was grade 6, so not exactly sure what they were hoping to prove to me.
Either way, I was sent to private school for a year and was scared straight. Between law school and my undergrad, I ended up doing 9 years of university so take that Mr. Selwood!
What’s your favourite workout song?
It really depends on what type of workout Im getting into, but I recently discovered a sweet original mix by Blondtron called "New Jack" that definitely puts a smile on my face and gets the blood flowing.
What’s your spirit animal and why?
The anteater. He seems like a slow, gentle animal who is harmless (to all but ants). He's a member of the sloth family, lives in warm climates, and generally seems like a fairly chilled out animal.
Who would be your celebrity best friend?
This is a very difficult question for me to answer. I love all celebrities and if this thing goes viral I might risk alienating one of them! If I had to choose I would say Matthew McConaughey.
He seems like a pretty cool cat who likes to have a laugh, a beer and does not take his celebrity too seriously. Also, I could ride his coat tails. That said, being part of the squad that Taylor Swift rolls around New York with would be pretty cool too!
Favourite way to procrastinate?
Planning vacations/trips. I really love organizing and get really fired up when I can waste my time by looking into all aspects of an adventure that I might have planned.
What was the last thing you read?
The Sunday New York Times. The freaking thing usually takes me a few days to get through by the time you have read all of the magazine supplements and Vows section. If you have never read the later, I highly recommend it.
Hours of fun reading about the details of how Charles Newark Finch the IV met and married Harriet Von Something the III, how they met at Yale, and how their families come from a long line of industrialists.
If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
Encinitas. Specifically I would sit and have coffee and breakfast at this amazing little surf shop called Surfy Surfy, followed by dinner at the Blue Ribbon (mostly being about five servings of their Burratta).
What does The Tight Life mean to you?
For me, The Tight Life is about pushing yourself beyond your traditional comfort zone to do something that scares you a bit. I generally find when I do that, I end up with a very cool and unique experience that I really cherish. Which usually leads to a small internal fist pump thanking myself for having taken that leap of faith.
What is your fitness goal?
I would really like to beat my personal best time for the Whistler Grand Fondo and to ride the triple crown this summer. That ride involves riding to the top of Grouse, Seymour and Cypress in the same day.
What is your new year's resolution?
100% I am committed to not getting any parking tickets or getting towed. I made the exact same goal last year and ended up getting towed and ticketed on Jan 1st, 2015 from my friend's apartment. Things can only go one way from there!

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
