Take a peek inside the Tight Club community, each week we’re checking in with one of our crew to learn what they get up to when they’re not slamming balls or crushing burpee challenges. These are the people that motivate you in class when sh!t gets real. From OG’s to newbies, here’s their inside scoop.
What is tight in your life?
Every. Single. Thing. I just moved to Vancouver two months ago from Calgary and have been overwhelmed with how much this big, beautiful city has to offer. For starters, I work at Tight Club! I recently finished school for personal training and the thought of finding my way into the fitness community here in Vancouver was a little bit intimidating - until I met Keighty.
When I went to shake her hand at my interview and she hugged me instead, I knew I had found my peoples. I literally just get to hang with the tightest babes in Vancouver all day at work. I have so many wonderful humans in my life - my family is the bomb diggity! Life threw me a couple curveballs last year but they had my back through all of it. I'm one lucky kid to be surrounded by such supportive people.
You all are gonna think I'm nuts but I'm a die hard fan of rocket jumps, a.k.a. jump squats. I'm all about working the booty and I love the way plyometrics wake up sleepy glutes. When I'm feeling extra ferocious I'll throw a 30lb barbell across my shoulders while doing them - if that doesn't make your butt cry, I don't know what will.
Something people might not know about you?
I spent three years working as an organic farmer. I did my apprenticeship on Saltspring Island in 2012 just to try something new and ended up completely falling in love with it. Waking up with the sun, the sound of chickens, the smell of compost, I love it all. I believe that our bodies were built to move and farming allowed me to do that. I have a tattoo of a hen on my right thigh as a happy little reminder of my farm girl days.
What’s your favourite workout song?
"Be Right There" by Diplo and Sleepy Tom. I once heard it in a spin class and it's been on my workout playlist ever since. I'm a sucker for anything with female vocals and a good beat.
What’s your spirit animal and why?
I was once told by an energy reader that my spirit animal is a rhinoceros - cool, right? Apparently they are quite maternal and caring, which I am, but tend to charge ahead in life without thinking things through, and I'll admit to that.
I'm a big believer in listening to my gut so I often make decisions based on feelings opposed to fact or practicality; I think that moving to Vancouver a couple months ago was an example of that. I left a city where I have friends, family, and professional connections for Vancouver where I had to start from scratch. My decision didn't really make sense at the time but the rhinoceros in me was like, "let's do this!" I love that about myself though. My seemingly irrational decisions have led to some really beautiful adventures and I don't regret any of them.
Who would be your celebrity best friend?
Ellen Page. I saw that Jody had the same answer to this question in her check in last week, but I decided that all 3 of us would be BFFs - a little Kels, Ellen, and Jodster tripod.
Favourite way to procrastinate?
I clean - does that count or is that being productive? I can't function when things are messy so nothing ever gets done until I've cleaned.
What was the last thing you read?
I've been obsessed with this numerology book I have, where you calculate a person's number based on the month and day they were born, then read about their personality traits - like astrology! Confession corner: whenever I have a crush on someone I always look them up in my book. It's like the New Age equivalent of Facebook creeping.
If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
I bet you're expecting me to describe some sort of tropical paradise, but honestly, I'd go hang out with my sister in Calgary for a night! We've gotten pretty close over the past few years which made moving away pretty difficult. Some of my favourite nights are when we get together to listen to 90's R&B, crush a workout, make dinner, and watch the latest episode of Dragon's Den.
What does The Tight Life mean to you?
To me, The Tight Life is about doing all of the things that give me happy butterflies. It's about challenging myself, loving myself, working hard, taking chances, and surrounding myself with good people.
What is your fitness goal?
Ten chin-ups in a row - I love functional movement and calisthenics. Plus, they make me feel like a total badass.
Do you have any pre or post workout rituals?
Hydration. Leading up to, during, and after my workout I always make an effort to drink water. I aim for 3-4L a day; some days being more successful than others. I've been really into adding chlorophyll into my water lately too. It turns my water bright green which is fun and adds a ton of health benefits.
How do you treat yourself?
Pancakes for breakfast, a spin class, curling my hair, and a trip to the farmer's market.
This summer my big plans are...
To soak up and enjoy the West Coast! You will most likely find me swimming in lakes, island hopping, trying the Americanos at every good coffee shop, and running around at Vancouver Pride.

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
