Take a peek inside the Tight Club community, each week we’re checking in with one of our crew to learn what they get up to when they’re not slamming balls or crushing burpee challenges. These are the people that motivate you in class when sh!t gets real. From OG’s to newbies, here’s their inside scoop.
What is tight in your life?
So many things are tight in my life right now and I am so grateful for them all. A few things specifically: my sister Rachel and I have become closer than ever before in the last little while and she’s the person I feel like I can go to about anything. My friends; I feel so blessed to know the people that I do. They are all so amazing in their own ways and I have so much love for them. Work; I am a freelance photographer and I absolutely love what I do. I am busy and have have some really cool projects on the go right now that I’m super excited about!
Ball Slams. Hands down. Because who doesn’t like smashing things down? I remember the first or second time I did these in a PT training session with Keighty and almost wrenched my shoulder out because I was a little too gung ho about them. Now I’ve got the movement dialled and can go for it with everything I’ve got. I love how much of a full body workout it is and gets me struggling to catch my breath after every interval; I also love skipping.
Something people might not know about you?
After graduating the photography program I attended, I went on a solo month long trip to Iceland. I used to be really shy and not the most adventurous person and had never even been away from home that long before, let alone by myself. I hitch hiked around the entire country with my tent and my sleeping bag, camping and hiking along the way; It was a game changer.
What’s your favourite workout song?
Keighty always has the best workout playlists so I’ve heard some good songs I love to sweat to, but I don’t know the names of a lot of them. One that I actually made an effort to search out and figure out the name of the first time I heard it was AWOL One - Rhythm. My favourite songs are always changing though.
What’s your spirit animal and why?
This is a tough one. Can’t say I’ve ever associated with a particular animal, but if I had to pick I’d have to say a great dane. They are gentle giants, easy going and mild-mannered, sociable and sensitive, loving and protective.
Who would be your celebrity best friend?
Jennifer Lawrence. She is hilarious and doesn’t take herself too seriously, seems really down to earth, and loves food. “Eating is one of my favourite parts of my day." J Law knows what’s up.
Favourite way to procrastinate?
This is a tough one because I can be pretty great at procrastinating and have a lot of things that can distract me from what actually needs to get done. Favourite way these days though is practicing guitar (I’m trying to learn).
What was the last thing you read?
An Elephant & Piggie Book: Should I Share My Ice Cream? by Mo Willems. It was a great read while I was waiting in line for ice cream at Rain or Shine a few weeks ago :).
If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
South East Asia is next on my travel list (haven’t decided specifically where yet), but pretty much anywhere I could wear shorts and a tank that is geographically stunning, has good food, and is culturally unfamiliar, I would be happy with.
What does The Tight Life mean to you?
For me it means having a healthy, balanced life, doing things that bring me joy, and being part of a community of good people to share that with.
What is your fitness goal?
To strengthen my upper body. I want to be able to do at least 1 pull up and not hate doing push ups as much as I do right now.
Do you have any pre or post workout rituals?
Eat. Pre-workout: I can’t do a high intensity workout on an empty stomach so if I am doing a 6am workout, I’m up at 5am to give myself enough time to have a smoothie or something light to give me some energy and not feel like throwing up mid burpee. After eating that early I usually sit on my couch still half asleep, eyes glazed over staring blankly ahead for the next 20 mins until I have to get dressed and run out the door for class. Post-workout: time to refuel with some good healthy food.
How do you treat yourself?
I always treat myself. Work hard, play hard; that’s my motto. I work hard and sometimes way too much, but then I’ll take off and travel for 6 weeks. I love working hard, but I regularly make time to do fun things that I enjoy. I don’t always have time, but I make time because balance is key. I workout hard and try to eat really healthy so that I still feel okay about having an unhealthy meal here or an ice cream there.
Complete the sentence. What I love most about spring is...
My birthday! And besides that, I love when the weather starts changing, the sun comes out more, the trees blossom, and the air just smells different and fresh. I love the smell of a sunny spring day in Vancouver after it has rained.

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
