Take a peek inside the Tight Club community, each week we’re checking in with one of our crew to learn what they get up to when they’re not slamming balls or crushing burpee challenges. These are the people that motivate you in class when sh!t gets real. From OG’s to newbies, here’s their inside scoop.
What is Tight in your life?
Oh man. Where do I even start?! I feel like so much in my life is tight right now. Being a photographer is tight because I get to meet so many rad people and go to so many places I'd never been before. My crew of buddies is tight as SHIT. My family is tight, especially my three nieces who love making funny faces and telling me stories. And my cat is pretty tight. She's not really, she's the fattest cat you'e ever seen, but her snuggles are tight.
I like side crunchies. Only Andrea Barber knows what those are, but she knows how much I like them, so she makes sure I get to do lots of them every time we have our training sessions. Ok, and squats, I do love squats! Anything to get that booty tight!
Something people might not know about you?
I sometimes like to be a little too casual with planning when I travel, which at one point in my twenties had me sleeping on a cobblestone sidewalk in Faro, Portugal because there was a massive biker convention in town which meant every. single. bed. in town was occupied. The sidewalk part wasn't too bad, it was the ostrich eating my pillow when I woke that made things a little bit weird.
What’s your favourite workout song?
I really hate to admit this where someone will read it, but when I run I basically HAVE to hear Bubble Butt. Can we not put that part in the article? Is it too late?....shit.
What animal are you most like and why?
A liger, because I was bred for my skills in magic.
Who would be your celebrity best friend?
I mean, I don't know if she'd feel the same way, but I think Mindy Kaling and I could have some pretty awesome bestie brunches.
Favourite way to procrastinate?
The area of my life that I procrastinate the most in is my personal life. Laundry, groceries, beer on patios with friends, that all gets pushed aside for work and building my business. I wake up on the weekends and think "I'm going to go for a run then have brunch", then I sit down to edit for "one sec" and my day is gone.
What was the last thing you read?
I read and re-read Love Poems by Pablo Neruda. I give copies of it to almost everyone I love.
If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
I would go literally anywhere I've never been before. But, the weather here has been pretty damp lately, so maybe Costa Rica this time.
What does the tight life mean to you?
To me, the Tight Life means living your best life. It means loving your career, loving your friends and family. It means having the time for adventure and introspection. And it means being healthy and fit enough to be able to feel your best every day.
What is your fitness goal?
When I began personal training with Andrea, my goal was just general fitness. Being a wedding photographer means hauling heavy gear in crazy weather for long, long hours, followed by many more hours at my computer. Instead of feeling exhausted and sore after each wedding I wanted to feel energized and strong, and Andrea absolutely helped me achieve that goal. I felt the best this year that I've ever felt and was even able to run my first ever half-marathon and had a smile on my face the whole time. Next up... just stay tight, and have fun doing it.
Do you have any pre or post workout rituals?
I don't really. Except I do love the walk home to Commercial drive after an intense workout.
How do you treat yourself?
Flowers. I love getting myself big, beautiful, rustic bouquets of flowers. Anything that I see at Birds and the Beets cafe, I want.

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
