Tight Club Check In: Taylor Jakubke

Take a peek inside the Tight Club community, each week we’re checking in with one of our crew to learn what they get up to when they’re not slamming balls or crushing burpee challenges. These are the people that motivate you in class when sh!t gets real. From OG’s to newbies, here’s their inside scoop.

Meet Taylor.

What is Tight in your life?

My bootay bootay! And a Tight sense of balance! I am passionate about my work, stellar friends, and going on adventures with our frenchie. Not to mention going to Booty Luv, working with the mermaids on my line of bath salts, and taking baths!

As a massage practitioner, I am always learning from my clients complexities and am fascinated by their ‘issues in their tissues'. I hold a great appreciation for the intricacies of what it means to be human; mind and body. We carry ourselves in our deepest layers, learning to let go of letting go and being mindful and present is something that I am always tweaking (check yo self!). Each day I’m constantly reminded about the importance of balance and taking time to pause and be thankful for the moment, even if Andrea just made me do 50 turtle rocket jumps on a bosu ball. Gotta put the work in if you wanna be a ninja turtle. Balance in all aspects is what I’m constantly trying to tweak and I’m feeling pretty tight about that.
Signature Move?

Showin’ up! And of course ball slams! They give me a lot of satisfaction, I also enjoy throw ups, squat throws, and that around the world move!

Something people might not know about you?

I am the founder of Easy Tiger Spa, a rad little line of bath salts created for the modern day hustler! I have been working on my passion project for the last year and I am so humbled and excited to see the mermaids on shelves all around Vancouver and across Canada which is crazy! Like I said 'showin up' is whatcha gotta do. You gotta show up for yourself and go get it! #easytigerspa
What’s your favorite workout song?

“Lightening strikes every time she moves. And everybody’s watching her. But she’s looking at yoooo ooo oooooooo oooo oooou ooo ooooo ooo ooo ooooooo oooouuuuu!!” (Taylor feat. Ri Ri)
What’s your spirit animal and why?

Rest in peace my dear sweet Baby dog. Capone you have filled my heart with pure joy and shall stay there forever. You are in the stars little stinker and your days will be full of carrots and naps in the sun.

Who would be your celebrity best friend?

Dolly Parton, hands down! Ever since I saw her in Steal Magnolias I’ve been a huge fan! “Find out who you are and do it on purpose.” – Dolly Parton.
Favorite way to procrastinate?

Hitting the snooze 10 times before I actually get up! Nothing beats that extra 10mins (25mins – who am I kidding) of diving back under the warm covers! It drives my boyfriend bonkers for sure, but sometimes my dreams are so good I just don’t want them to end!
What was the last thing you read?

Confession… I read half books! I have a horrible habit of reading a book halfway and then starting another one. But right now I’m on a mission to finish GUT: The inside story of our body’s most underrated organ By Giulia Enders. The core of who we are lies in our gut. This is a quirky, informative read on the digestive system that is full of fun new things! Fun gut fact: the gut is the only organ system that can perform it's functions without the oversight of the brain.

If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

The Amalfi Coast of Italy! Picture the scene: limoncello in hand while lounging on a boat headed from Positano to the Blue Grotto on the island of Capri. We stop to say hello to the Sirens on Galli Island and finish off at Ristorante Da Adolfo. La Dolce far niente!
What does the tight life mean to you?

The Tight Life is all about community, encouragement, ab lab and pure love of rocket jumps (cue: Michael dancing). I felt the love the second I walked through those doors and I am so inspired by the trainers and classmates inside The Field House and out! Crew Love!

What is your fitness goal?

I strive to be my best self! I have an injury that I have been trying to get past for the last couple years. Finally, I’m feeling strong, powerful, and back on my A-game - see you later lame shoulder! Goals: I would love to hit up an Athletes Class and hike the Chief!
Do you have any pre or post workout rituals?

I give myself 15 minutes to bike to Tight Club from my house but I always end up out the door with 10 minutes to spare so I get my heart rate up and sweaty before class has even begun. Stretching is key pre and post workout!  Stretching helps increase circulation, sends fresh oxygen to your brain and helps with muscle tightness I also heard Beyonce stretches so... I guess we should all stretch!
How do you treat yourself?

ICE CREAM! Yup that’s the ticket!
This summer my big plans are...

I would love to hike The Chief! And swim in the phosphorescence at night!
What's your favorite holiday?

Easter! I always look forward to the bunny cake my Nanny and I make together.  Also the lilacs are out and they are just the best smelling thing ever!

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
