How we got here

Chapter 1: Early Life

I grew up in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island and spent most of my young life at the track. I dreamed of one day making it to the Olympics and that dream eventually led me to compete for the University of Oregon and Portland State University.

While I loved movement and competition, a lot of my experience in high-level sport was shaped by pressure, fear, and unhealthy coaching environments. It ultimately became a big part of why I wanted to create a more supportive, human approach to fitness.

Chapter 2: Tight Club and Vancouver

I started Tight Club Athletics in 2012 with one big goal: to change the way people experience fitness. I wanted movement to feel more welcoming, creative and fun.

In 2015, after years of hosting classes out of my back alley garage and at Andy Livingston Park, I opened a beautiful studio in Chinatown, Vancouver.

What started small grew into an vibrant, incredible community built around movement, connection, strength training, run clubs, bike clubs, retreats, and bringing good people together.

Chapter 3: TCTV

When the pandemic hit, TCTV was born. What started as a way to keep our community moving from home eventually grew into a digital training platform with hundreds of classes — and honestly, it's some of the best work I’ve ever created.

During that same season, I made the difficult decision to close down the Vancouver studio and move to Ventura with my husband, Harrison. It was a huge life shift, but also the beginning of a slower, more intentional chapter.

Chapter 4: Keighty's Cafe & Ventura

In 2023, life forced me to slow down in a way I never had before after experiencing a stroke. For a moment, I thought my career in fitness might be over, but eventually I realized I didn’t want to stop coaching, I just wanted to do it differently.

I started inviting friends over to my backyard for workouts and matchas, combining my love of movement, hospitality, and bringing people together. What started as a few friends coming slowly turned into "Keighty’s Café" — the latest chapter of Tight Club and a version of fitness that feels deeply aligned with who I am today. Come over ;)
